My Story

Most people can relate to the experience of waking up one day and realizing you are not doing the thing you were meant to be doing. As a community-minded person whose passion was investing in people’s growth, I believed that working in education was the right fit for me- until it wasn’t. While connecting with people and providing them support was my job title, I recognized that the way I was reaching people was through encouraging self-expression, creating art to communicate ideas, and empowering people to lean into their gifts, regardless of their “marketability”. Without noticing it, I had begun to live as a creative professional in a corporate environment that didn’t appreciate it. So, I freed myself.

 

Now, as a freelance illustrator, I am pursuing my purpose to the fullest: creating art that bridges the gaps between people and encourages people to embrace imperfection and joy without fear of being “cringey”! Leaning into the “cringe” and living whimsically in these dark times is my praxis. Living on my own terms, being unapologetic about it, and creating the art I want to see in the world is my one-woman-resistance against hate, numbness, conformity, and all the rules. I hope that my art lights the fire in my viewers to live the same way so that we can have a more inclusive, kind, and joyful world. 

 

One of my superpowers is to find the magic in the mundane. Through my art, I try to tap into the whimsy that lives inside of everyone's heart, giving them permission to find and feel child-like joy, unbarred sadness, or straight-up weird vibes! Using a mix of traditional pen and ink techniques and digital art, my work features bright colors, funny subjects, and unexpected perspectives to transport viewers inside my mind.
